Ford is looking to take their Focus model one step further with the Coupe Concept, likely to be launched on the automotive market in 2013. It was about time to see a coupe version of Ford’s last Focus.

What have we seen so far by the third generation of Ford Focus? A number of body styles, including a five-door hatch, a four-door sedan, and of course an estate. The designer of all this, David Cardoso, finally realized that the time has come for an elegant Coupe. It is said that this car will be designed for customers who would otherwise consider buying the Honda CR-Z or Peugeot RCZ.

Here’s what the designer himself said about his work of art:

The Ford Focus Coupé is a 2+2 seat concept car inspired by the 2011 Ford Focus. The coupé has a more aggressive appearance and chrome accents. It is lower than the 2011 Ford Focus and could be positioned in the category of the Peugeot RCZ / Honda CR-Z.

The Ford Focus Coupe will share the same traction-enhancing torque vectoring system as Ford Focus ST. Unlike the ST, the Coupe will be more stable due to its wider truck. It will have the same 247bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, which will enable 0-60mph in around six seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Not only that! We will also have the privilege to enjoy its great sound, due to an intake and exhaust tuning combination. And speaking of its styling, it’s clear that the designer was inspired by the European Focus, as it has that aggressive look.

Furthermore, the ground clearance will be lower compared to the standard version to provide an aerodynamic look and stability at high speed. And what about the C pillar? It has a striking resemblance to that of Nissan 370Z. Smart way to go Cardoso.
